Ragnarok Online Philippines

It’s so nostalgic to see the “Valkyrie (9457)” in the log-in screen of Ragnarok Online. It reminds me of my old days in Chaos. The newbie grounds have become easier for newcomers. If you talk to all the NPCs, you could easily level your character up to Base Level 7 Job Level 7. Your character is also given a total of 300+ Novice Potions and a complete set of Novice Equipments which make it easier to level up.

Taekwondo Boy Ranker

Before I started playing in the Valkyrie server, I did some research and got interested with the new class Taekwondo Boy/Girl. It got more interesting when I’ve read that being part of the top 10 Taekwondo Boy/Girl gives you special benefits like x3 HP/SP and access to all Taekwondo Skills so I decided to create a Taekwondo Boy.

I reached Job level 10 in the Novice Training Grounds and deliberately answered the questions to become an archer since the change job NPC for Taekwons is in Payon.

After turning into a Taekwondo Boy, I went straight to Einbroch and leveled at the map below it. There was a plethora of monsters there (Poring, Drops, Thief Bug, Poporing, Metaling and Porcellio). I leveled there until Base Level 69 Job Level 50 (Job 45-Job 50 was in the Dungeon nearby).

In pRO Valkyrie you need REAL money to be able to get good equipment

My Partner

Since my girlfriend “forced” me to create a blog, I think it’s just fair that I ask something in return for it. I asked her to play to help me level up. I taught her how to play and chose for her to become an Acolyte to support me. Because of her, I was able to tackle Metalings earlier than I should have been able to. We both leveled up at almost the same pace. She staggered a couple of levels behind though since she dies every once in a while (trigger happy - she has this urge to hit the Porcellio).

Taekwondo Stat and Skills

Using a stat calculator I planned the following stats for my character:

Str: 80+
Agi: 80+
Vit: 1
Int: 1
Dex: 70+
Luk: 1

I may put some points on VIT and INT.

These are my current skills:

Sprint: 10
Tornado Stance: 1
Tornado Kick: 7
Flying Kick: 7
Tumbling: 1
Kihop: 5
Happy Break: 5
Peaceful Break: 5
Taekwon Mission: 1
Mild Wind: 4

I still have 3 skill points left. I still can’t decide whether I should put it on Leap or complete the Mild Wind skill.

Taekwon Mission

I tried using the Taekwon Mission skill and my first mission was a hundred Generals. Using the /taekwon command, I found out that I had to surpass 36 points. Since this can be quite difficult, I decided not to pursue the Missions until I reach level 80.

Still a long way to go but I’m still having some fun for now though the “bot” problem is still quite rampant. In fairness to LU! though, they have been trying to implement some anti-botting system which is quite effective (but sadly, when the anti-bot system was implemented during log-in you would only see “Valkyrie (4293)” which means that almost 50% of the population were bots).

Ragnarok Online

Because I’m a gamer, I would like to make a post about my experiences in the MMORPG Ragnarok Online.

I started playing Ragnarok Online almost 4 years ago. A friend of mine introduced this online game to me and I instantly got hooked. During the first few weeks, I foolishly wandered around the world of Midgard without the slightest idea of what I had to do until I met this woman, a Blacksmith with blue light surrounding her. Seeing that a lot of people were crowding around her, I decided to join the crowd. I tried asking other players what the fuss was all about and they said that that player (the woman blacksmith) is the very first level 99 blacksmith in all of pRO. At that time, I really did not know what that meant but it sounded really amazing.

Seeing that this was an opportunity to know someone who was good at the game, I gave her a whisper. I was not really expecting for her to reply knowing her status but I just wanted to give it a shot. Surprisingly, after a few seconds she replied with a “Hi!” That was then that I started to bombard her with a lot of questions about the game - “How to do this?”, “What should I do?”, “What stats should I raise?”, “Where should I level?” and alot of other questions. She patiently answered each and every question that I threw at her.

After all the queries my answered, she sent me a whisper that forever changed my online gaming life - “Do you want me to help you with your character?” After that, I played countless and countless of hours everyday with her blacksmith being my tank. In just a few days, I had a thief with job level 50 ready to change job to an assassin. All throughout the growth of my character she was there by my side to help me.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. The blacksmith who helped me discover the wonders of Midgard disappeared. The only reason that I could think of is the worsening condition of the game - bots were running a mock and the company that runs the game seem to be aloof with the situation and had its own agenda.

While I was leveling my character with her, she was always ranting about how bots are starting to proliferate in the game. She also seemed to have issues with people in the company I’m not quite certain but one thing is for sure though, I have also developed the distaste for bots and other means of cheating in the game. After a few weeks of playing the game and seeing its state getting worse, I decided to quit.

Three years later, I found out that Ragnarok was going to become a free-to-play server meaning you do not need to buy top-up cards to be able to play the game. I also heard news that the company running the game were becoming more vigilant with bots and other cheaters. With this news, I wanted to play again.

Money For Blogs

When my girlfriend told me that she was starting her own blog, the words that came out of my mouth was, “Blog what?” She said it was like an online journal wherein you can write anything you would like to write - “It’s kind of therapeutic.” she added.

After a long while of persuasion I agreed to make one myself. I was never really serious about it. I only did it for the sake that our “small talk” about blogs wouldn’t turn out to become a nasty fight. Seeing that I did what she wanted me to do, the waters turned calm.

I really had no intention of continuing this blog until this morning. Me and my friends were hanging out in a cafe and I mentioned to them my “blog experience.” Then suddenly a guy who overheard what I was talking about told me that blogging is actually a very profitable venture. The word “profitable” got me interested. He was talking about how he made money and was able to pay tuition for his kids with blog sounded unbelievable but he had this look in his eyes that say “I’m telling the truth.” He gave me a few words of encouragement like “the good thing about blogs is that you can write anything you want.” After a few minutes, he said that he had to go. But he left me his email address in case I wanted to learn more about blogging.

So now, I decided to continue this blog. It would make my girlfriend happy and make me happy :) Blogging - therapeutic and profitable - it can’t get any better than that.
